Low Carb Diets > Low Carb Diet and its ingredients

A low Carb diet is one which contains low levels of carbohydrates and fats. Food is not only a basic necessity but it is also a source of survival for human beings, plants and animals. Food gives us nutrition and strength to survive and grow.

A good nutritional diet contains all essential nutrients required by a human being. These essential nutrients are carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, roughage and fats.

Low Carb Diet Ingredietnts

Although all these four nutrients are necessarily important for growth and development of the human organs and cells, carbohydrates and fats are the ones, which are mainly responsible for maintaining energy levels in the human body.

Carbohydrates are complex sugar molecules which are broken down by the body through the digestive system to give out energy which is used by the body for various physical and mental activities. However, if the consumption of carbohydrates is more, the extra energy produced by the breakdown of carbohydrates gets stored in the body in the form of fat.

There are three types of carbohydrates- sugar, starch and fiber. When carbohydrate is broken down, it becomes fat. So, an individual should maintain the correct level of fat as well as carbohydrate in his/her diet to avoid cholesterol accumulation and obesity. A low carb diet plan concentrates more on a minerals, fibers and vitamins rich diet.
